16 Sermon 41:3, in Bernard of Clairvaux 1987: 562: ‘Aurum divinitatis est fulgor’.

Dum esset rex in accubitu suo nardus mea dedit odorem suum

(Song 1.11. Rome 1957: 181)

In Stanza 26 of the Cántico, the esposa calls on the cold wind to cease, and on the warm wind to blow through her orchard, opening its flowers and scattering their scents for her beloved to enjoy when he enters:

Detente, cierço muerto;

uen, austro, que recuerdas los amores,

aspira por mi huerto,

y corran sus olores,

y pacerá el Amado entre las flores

(Pacho 1981:884)
